Area of Economic Development Inlet Island is located in an area of Ithaca that is currently undergoing a renaissance. The proximity of Ithaca's many special attractions to the waterfront area encompassing Inlet Island has contributed to expanded commercial development in this area. Inlet Island is the central location of the soon-to-be completed Cayuga Inlet Trail, with connections to the Black Diamond Trail. These trail systems will ultimately connect Cass and Stewart Parks with the major State Parks such as Taughannock, Buttermilk and Treman by a biking and hiking trail.
